Need help on choosing a CRT

So I was wondering which one to buy of these 2, which would be better for retro gaming :

Sony Trinitron KV-29X5L



or

Barco CVS 51



?

Hi dude!
Trinitron are known to be great displays.
The Barco one seems to be a monitoring display so it should have a great image quality. However it's the first time I hear about this brand and I don't know if it worth it.
What I can say is that Sony is 9" larger.
Can you tel us where will it be installed? In a cabinet or standalone?
It will help people to give you more accurate advice.

Well, they have some differences :

• The size : 29" ( Sony ) vs 21".
• A consumer product ( Sony ) vs a professional monitor.

The Sony comes with several kinds of inputs ( Scart, S-VHS, component to avoid at all costs ) very useful for retro consoles especially scart which is RGB capable, the best video quality.
Even if it's not a professional CRT it's a good choice for retro gaming as it can display beautiful images. Lots of settings are available in the service mode menu.
What do you intend to plug on your CRT ?

I didn't find information on the Barco monitor. As many other professional monitors it should have BNC inputs, not sure for a scart connector. It should display great images as well.

Test them dude, barco for me a great one with a great picture. Sony trinitron is a good one too. What about buying the 2 tv ?

My plan is to use it standalone to connect my PC to it, as I don't own any old consoles.
Was also thinking if 29" would be a bit too big ... but I think I will go for the Trinitron because it is cheaper
What cables/OS is needed to connect PC to TV using RGB ? (never done it )

For RGB porko gave one way to do it.

You can also use SVHS which is not as good as RGB but give great images. In that case no need to have an hazardous cable, hazardous because lots of people complain about it. With a standard SVHS cable, an ATI Radeon card with SVHS connector and compatible with calamity drivers, you're good to go.

Yep.

Another solution more expensive but nobody complains about it is UMSA

I'm a little bit late, but always take the Sony Trinitron, they have excellent technology. However, the technology used is a little bit different, so you have better sharpness, more vivid colors and stuff, but some developpers intended their game to be shown on "shadowmasks" TV where the colors kinda bleed, with ghosting and overall fuzzyness and it helps with "blending" some effects/arts on 2D games. Sometimes, playing on a trinitron kinda feels like playing on a LCD with scanlines compared to playing on a "Shadowmask" TV (pretty much all of the other TV), but Trinitron is the superior technology
